Sherrie Russ Levine was born in Georgetown, South Carolina. She received her formal training from Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. After graduating in 1981 with a major in graphic design, she worked as a designer and art director in Atlanta, Georgia for 10 years before moving to Nashville, Tennessee. Since 1995 she has focused her energy on paintings in oil. Sherrie is an artist noted for her loose impressionist paintings that are vibrant with light and color. Her works capture the emotional impact of a scene with expressive brushwork, a clear and direct statement, and the strongest color effect possible--the varied subject matter is secondary. She often travels to find new inspiration and loves to paint en plein air. Sherrie's paintings are gaining national and international recognition. She was selected into the 2007 Florence Biennale by The Arte Studio International Committee, and is a finalist in the RAYMAR Fine Art Competition for 2007. She is a member of The Oil Painters of America, The American Impressionist Society and The Chestnut Group of TN. She has studied painting with nationally known artists Kim English, Joel Knapp, Camille Przewodek, Peggi Kroll-Roberts and Leslie Rich.
